Ben Blunt returns home to take over his father’s veterinary practice after serving three years in the Royal Army Veterinary Corps. All seems peaceful and quiet at first on the idyllic Isle of Man until a spate of dog-nappings sets off a deadly chain of events of global importance. With the help of his able assistant – Sophie May – their investigations lead to the discovery of the killing pit. There, Ben murders a man in self defence. When the authorities are less than understanding, the two are forced to go on the run in order to find Ben’s father before he is killed and to save all the pets before it is too late.
The more Ben and Sophie find out, the more people want to kill them. As their relentless hunters close in, the island shuts down.
